There are four (4) shipping options that are standard in the ES 100:
1) 2nd Day Air
2) Ground
3) International
4) Next Day Air
For each shipping option, there are four (4) methods for calculating the actual charge applied to an order:
1) Percentage of Price: This method calculates the shipping charge based on the subtotal of non-shipping exempt items in an order. The formula is:
Base Charge $______
+ ______% of amount of order less than $______ (pivot-amount)
+ ______% of amount of order greater than $______ (pivot amount)
Note: There is only one pivot-amount, which is the same for less than and greater than percentage calculations.
Example 1:
Base Charge $ 4.00
+ 5% of amount of order less than $50.00 (pivot-amount)
+ 3% of amount of order greater than $50.00 (pivot amount)
With this set up an order with a subtotal of $80.00 would have a shipping charge calculated as: $4.00 + (5% X $50.00) + (3% X ($80.00 – $50.00))=$7.40
Example 2:
Base Charge $ 5.00
+ 0% of amount of order less than $50.00 (pivot-amount)
+ 3% of amount of order greater than $50.00 (pivot-amount)
With this set up an order with a subtotal of $80.00 would have a shipping charge calculated as: $5.00 + (0% X $50.00) + (3% X ($80.00 – $50.00))=$5.90
2) Per Ounce: This method calculates the shipping charge based on the total weight of non-shipping exempt items in an order. The formula is:
Base Charge $______
+ $______ per ounce on weight less than ______ounces. (pivot-weight)
+ $______ per ounce on weight greater than ______ounces (pivot-weight)
Note: There is only one pivot-weight, which is the same for less than and greater than weight calculations.
3) Threshold: This price-based method uses fixed threshold amounts to determine the shipping charge. The formula is:
If greater than: $0.00 charge $______
If greater than: $ charge $______
If greater than: $ charge $______
Up to seven (7) thresholds.
Example:
If greater than: $0.00 charge $5.00
If greater than: $20.00 charge $6.00
If greater than: $30.00 charge $7.00
An order with a subtotal of $19.00 would have a shipping charge of $5.00. An order with a subtotal of $23.53 would have a shipping charge of $6.00.
4) Per Unit: This volume-based method uses a standard amount for up to a set number of items, then increases for each additional item. The formula is:
Base Charge $______ for the first ___ items.
+ $______ for each additional item.
Example:
Base Charge $5.00 for the first 3 items.
+ $1.50 for each additional item.
An order with 5 items would have a shipping charge of $8.00 ($5.00 for the first 3 items, and $1.50 each for the 2 additional items).
