The Gift Card Module is a great tool that allows you to offer virtual gift cards on your website and from your Extranet (back office)! When a customer purchases a Gift Card, they will get a Gift Card code on their purchase invoice that they can then give to a friend to shop on your site!

 

Setting up your Gift Card

• Create an inventory item for the Gift Card.
• Check off Item type of Gift Card. Once checked, the system knows a Gift Card code needs to be created when the item is purchased.

 

• Create active retail pricing in the amount of the Gift Card.

When someone purchases a Gift Card, a coupon will be created as a Gift Card type. The code associated with the Gift Card that was created will be sent to the purchaser on their invoice. The purchaser can then give the Gift Card code to someone who can use it on an order.  Any unused amount of that Gift Card will be put on the customer’s account as a credit to be used at a later date.

Purchasing a Gift Card

• The Gift Card will be available wherever you choose – website, Extranet or both for a customer to purchase.

Add the quantity of Gift Cards you want to purchase to the order and select “add to order.”

When payment has been processed, the invoice will list the Gift Card codes in the invoice notes. This information will also be sent in the order’s auto-responder e-mail message to the purchaser:

Redeeming a Gift Card

• To redeem a gift card #
  • Extranet: Gift Card codes are redeemed in the credits section as shown below:

Website: Enter the Gift Card code on the customer page when entering all shipping and billing information as shown below:

If the entire amount of the gift card is not used on a single purchase, a credit balance is added to the customer’s account, and will be available to be applied the next time that customer makes a purchase, as shown below. Please note that the gift card (coupon #) can only be used one time.  Again, any remainder will be applied as a credit balance to the customer’s account. In order for the customer to redeem the credit balance, they will need to log in using the same credentials (username and password) used when they originally redeemed the gift card (coupon #).

 

Gift card codes created in the system can be audited in the es100. Select Company>es100 Setup>Order>Coupons.
